The product that launched Sprinklize
Discovering freedomRail
Before I moved to Austin, I was staying with a friend in a luxury high-rise apartment while I looked for a condo. They had the most beautiful closets, AND they were adjustable!!
After adjusting the height of the clothing rods, I thought it would be nice to have a few more shelves, so I asked the management how to get more. They told me it was freedomRail® by Organized Living® and when I saw the options on their website, I was hooked.
FreedomRail is a top rail storage system, similar to Elfa® (from The Container Store®), BOAXEL (from IKEA®), and others, but in my opinion, it is SOOO much better than any of those.
My 3 favorite freedomRail features:
1 - Flexibility and lots of options
With more options than just single drawers, freedomRail lets you choose cabinets with doors, cubbies, drawers, and so much more - all of which are modular and easily moved WITHOUT TOOLS so you can reconfigure your storage as your needs evolve.
(Just a handful of the MANY freedomRail components available - shown in chocolate pear)
2 - Uninterrupted Hanger Space
With corner rods that extend movement from one wall to the next and no interference from rod clips or built-in cabinet sides, freedomRail allows for the longest uninterrupted movement over clothing rods that I’ve found from any storage system.
(Maximum hanger movement with corner rods and patented rod clips - shown in whiskey walnut)
3 - Strength
With 50% more steel, freedomRail supports 170 pounds per linear foot* compared to 100 pounds or less for other top-rail systems. This is difficult to show in a photo, but easy to see when comparing products side-by-side and in person.
But how did this launch Sprinklize?
Easy - two things happened.
I designed and installed my own freedomRail systems in my closets and pantry, and some friends wanted me to do the same for them.
I volunteered at a few Habitat for Humanity build sites in Austin and wanted to provide freedomRail for affordable housing.
So this summer I decided to try something completely different from my 30 year enterprise software career - a nonprofit custom closet business.
It’s not the organizing that’s different - I’ve been organizing my home and helping friends get organized for over a decade.
What’s different is running a nonprofit like a business - meaning Sprinklize doesn’t do any fundraising. Instead, the goal is to sell enough custom closet and storage solutions to the general public to earn enough to provide storage solutions for affordable housing.
Most of the summer was spent researching whether this idea was even feasible. While there are very few nonprofits that follow this model, there are some, and it’s becoming more common. There’s even a term for it - social enterprise, which refers to an organization that applies commercial strategies to maximize improvements in social and environmental well-being.
And so Sprinklize was launched in August 2025.
Our grand vision is a world where everyone can has the improved clarity and reduced stress that comes from an organized home, regardless of budget.
The primary focus is on maximizing space and simplifying storage - both for our clients and our affordable housing beneficiaries.
